The follow
ing precautions help you plan an acceptable operating environment for
your Services Router and avoid environmentally caused equipment failures:
For the cooling system to function properly, the airflow around the chassis
must be unrestricted. Allow at least 6 in. (15.2 cm) of clearance between the
front and b
ack of the chassis and adjacent equipment. Ensure that there is
adequate circulation in the installation location.
Follow ESD procedures described in “Preventing Elec trostatic D ischarge
Damage” on page 205, to avoid damaging equipment. Static discharge can
cause com
ponents to fail completely or inte rm ittently over time.
Install b
lank PIM panels in empty slots, to prevent any interruption or
reduction in the flow of air across internal components.
