Establishing Basic Connectivity
Connecting to the CLI Remotely
You can connect to the CLI from a remote location through two dial-up modems: a
modem that is c
onnected to the console port on the Services Router and a second
modem connected to a remote management device. The modem connection allows
you to remotely perform the same conso le operations you can perform locally.

Before you can con nect a dial-up modem to the con s ol e port on the S ervices Router,

3. From the PC or laptop computer, start your asynchronous terminal emulation
application
(suchasMicrosoftWindowsHyperterminal)andselectthe
COM

4. Configure th
e port settings as follows:
Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1

5. In the HyperTerminal window, enter AT.
An
OK response verifies that the modem communicates successfully with
the COM port on the PC or laptop.
